My qualificationscore was enough for one bye, so i dod not need to get up that early. The format was simple, 20 players play 4 games and top 10 goes thru to the next round. The things that was not that good was if you started with a bad game.. after that you could not afford that many shoots who was not a strike.
Did make the cut the first to rounds, but not with such big margin. After that we was 18 players and the cut was now that top 8 goes thru, and with a lot of good players in the field i knew the cut will be higher. I was lucky to get a good pair in the first game, which resulted in a perfect game, and added up that with 268 in the second and got a final score of 1065:-)
In the top 8 i really had to fight for it, as i started with two bad games and had only 424. Played better the next two games, and ended up with 935 which was about 10 pins inside the cut and a place in the semifinal.
Played against Stuart Williams, England in the semi, and i did not gave away anything this match which i won with 268-226.
Faced Lasse Lintila, Finland in the final and it started good with a 4-bagger, but after that i got trouble on the left lanes which resulted in two 7-pins and one 10-pin and only 228, which was way to low to win as Lasse shoot 268.
I am pretty satisfy with my performance with my second place, and also the lead in the EBT-ranking.
(2008-04-10)Had another try on the lanes today in hope to win the squad and get 250€, but i ended up as number four, and it was not even close to the topscore of my teammate Martin Larsen, who ended up with 1603(!)... i had only 1421:-) But i fore sure knows whos bying dinner tonight:-)
I probably want play anything more until the final on sunday, i think i take a couple of days of instead.
(2008-04-09)Had my first attempt on the lanes today, and for being a 45 feet pattern its hooks pretty much. And its not that hard to get strikes either, and my 1442 for six games was only 5th(!) best in the squad.
Will not play anything more today but maybe a play again tomorrow, as every squadwinner gets 250€. |
